Winner of 2016 Teresa Neale Award announced

The Wildfire Council would like to congratulate Ella Worboys for being awarded the 2016 Teresa Neale Award. The panel was particularly impressed by her involvement and passion for Rural Health matters.

This Teresa Neale Award is awarded to the student who has made the most significant contribution to rural, remote and Indigenous health awareness through their committment to the promotion of rural and Indigenous Health. It is bequeathed in honour of Teresa Neale, a long standing staff member at the Monash School of Rural Health.

2016 Annual Teresa Neale Award

The Teresa Neale Award is awarded to the year 5D student who has made the most significant contribution to rural, remote and Indigenous health awareness through their committment to the promotion of rural and Indigenous health. It is dedicated to Teresa Neale, a staff member of the Monash School of Rural Health who contributed greatly to WILDFIRE. The prize includes $400, a gift and a certificate of recognition; it is open to year 5D students and entries close on October 28th. Apply by sending a cover letter and CV that outlines your contribution to rural and Indigenous health to Laura Major at laura.major@monash.edu; applications will be judged by a panel from the School of Rural Health.


Submissions for Frontier

Are you a writer, an artist, a creator? AMSA Rural Health is now calling for submissions! Share your experiences, voice your opinions and share your views on current issues surrounding rural health. Editorials, poems, reflections, cartoons - anything goes! Submissions are due by Friday 15th July, although they'll always be open to contact! More details here.

CRANAplus Scholarships and Grant Funding

CRANAplus provides opportunities for health professionals working in remote and isolated practice and students with a career interest to access Professional Development Activities. These provide financial assistance of up to $1000 per applicant. Scholarships are available every year, although applications have ended this year; details are available from the CRANA website.

North West Clinical Skills Weekend

Thanks to everyone who came for our North West Clinical Skills Weekend on the 21st and 22nd of May! Students learned all kinds of important skills like cannulation, suturing, basic life support and more, and got to have a hands on experience with the Bendigo school of Rural Health.

Many thanks also to BOQ specialist and MIPS for sponsoring us, without which this event would not have come to life.

Monash O-Week 2016

Wildfire is welcomes everyone to their annual Orientation Week Festival in the Monash Clayton campus! We have multiple barbecues planned for the week, lots of goodies and prizes for people who register for Wildfire! Being part of Wildfire is pretty awesome, so check us out at the Orientation Festival and sign up for news, access to our fabulous events and the chance to win a brand new stethoscope!
